Everyday Makeup // School

I think a lot of people wear makeup to school, and I don't think there is anything wrong with that. I wear a bit of makeup to school, not a lot compared to others.

Makeup:
- Nude BB cream: I don't like wearing foundation at the moment because I find that sometimes it makes my skin itchy because of the roaccutane and I like quite a light thing, also because my foundation fell of the bathroom bench and smashed. I think this BB cream is good, I had to pick it up from the airport and just haven't had the money to get a better one but it's still good. I use it under my eyes and on the odd spot. I apply this with my Mac brush
- L'Oreal true match powder: I used this powder at modeling and have used it ever since, I like to apply a light layer over the BB cream just to set it and blend it in that little bit more, I blend this with my Mac 150
- Clinique pellet: This was my mums, but I sort of took it, I use this a lot, a lot. I usually apply the cream colored one on my eyelids and down into the tear duct area and then I apply the dark brown one lightly, in the upper corner of my eye. I use the Mac 224 for this

- Revlon color stay liquid eyeliner: I go through about 3 of these a year, I love them. I have a brown one and they last throughout the day and you can get it off easily
- Mac dark brown eye shadow: I don't use this on my eyes, I use it for my brows and I don't really wear it an school that often, but I will sometimes.
- Lip balm: Lip balm is something i'm applying 24/7 because I can't stand dry lips, I use Lucas Paw Paw because I find many other brands don't really do the job

Goodbye Acne

Acne sucks, everyone hates it, everyone wants acne in their wardrobe rather on their face but it's there and one must suffer through that. I had quite bad acne, and I hated it, it is sore and makes you feel self conscious and you feel the need to cover it with makeup. I'm sure you here people say "you have to eat healthy" "exercise" yeah sure this may improve it, but it won't properly rid of it, if you have it bad. My acne has improved so much, so much since I started a medical, prescribed drug called 'roaccutane' I'm sure some of you have heard of it, it's truly amazing.

Roaccutane is a very strong skin drug. "Acne occurs due to an excessive production of sebum from over-active sebaceous glands in the skin. The sebum blocks the sebaceous glands, which prevents the oil from flowing freely out and causes an accumulation of sebum under the skin. The bacteria associated with acne thrive in these conditions. They feed on the sebum, and produce waste products and fatty acids that irritate the sebaceous glands, making them inflamed and causing spots. Isotretinoin (roaccutane) decreases the size and activity of the sebaceous glands in the skin, which reduces the amount of sebum that is produced. This stops the glands becoming blocked, and means bacteria are less likely to thrive. It also reduces the inflammation in the skin"

But Roaccutane can have serious side effects, that's why you have to have a blood test first and then another every 3 months, I think, it's just protocol. At the start of the treatment, you may see your skin worsen but it will gradually pass in 7-10 days. Roaccutane also completely dries out your skin everywhere and lips so moisturizing is essential. I take two tablets (doses) a day rather than one, this sped it up so much.

The other thing about Roaccutane is that you need to watch out for certain skin products, for example I get a allergic reaction/rash now from the body shop body butters. Avoid scented body washes/cleansers/exfoliants/moisturizes stick with plain, simple ones.

If you're taking Roaccutane, using plain cleanser at least 5 days a week, exfoliating once a week and mixing it with a healthy diet and the odd bit of exercise then your skin should clear up fast and well.

I highly recommend Roaccutane, go see a dermatologist!

Feeling Lost

In a world as big and as scary as our own it is very easy to loose your way and feel incredibly lost. Through life, we will always trip up, head in the wrong direction and loose our way, that never ends but I think the teenage years in terms of feeling lost are some of the worst. Teenage girls, what do we love to do? We love to talk, about anything, everything, we hear something about someone, we'll most probably discuss it with someone else who then will discuss it with someone else and through time the story will change and will end up with something completely different to how it started, things like this create problems. As girls we don't only tell things, we hear things and some of the things we hear are things we would have never imagined, things no one would want to hear. And once you've heard things like these, you usually start to think about your life and you suddenly find all these other little things and that's when the issue of trust comes in. Yeah, you know that girl, the one you trusted so much, the one who you never thought would do something like that to you? she did. How do you feel? Lost right? Angry? Hurt? Confused? And what about all those other people, did they do the same thing? You go over it and over it again, and again and the more you analyse it the more lost and scared you feel. And you tell yourself "I don't care what people think of me" but I know that deep down, you do care, and that you are hurting and that you don't know what to do.

I honestly don't know the answer myself. But I do know, that people have to earn your trust, never just give it to them. And even then, don't tell them everything, don't put all your trust in them, because you'll end up getting hurt. It's a harsh world, but as long as you find the good things, find light at the end of the tunnel, it should be be alright, things should get better.

So here's a list of good things:

-       Long car drives early in the morning or late at night
-       A cool breeze on a hot day
-       Having someone you know you can always depend on
-       Laying on comfy grass and listening to all the sounds
-       Listening to music loudly on a bus with your head laying against the cold glass
-       Catching eyes with that one person
-       Sales
-       Being a first choice
-       People who remember the little things
-       Cats
-       Breakfast in bed
-       A smile from a stranger
-       An embrace that lasts a little longer than usual
-       Getting flowers
-       Applause
-       Getting a higher mark than expected on a test
-       Pizza
-       Beautiful sunsets and sunrises
-       Feeling wanted
-       Massages
-       Tacos or any Mexican food
-       Getting a handwritten letter
-       Long phone conversations
-       Dancing stupidly to cheesy songs
-       People who are always warm
-       Laughing so hard you cry
-       Holding someone’s hand
-       Finishing a book
-       The feeling of sand between your toes
-       Ice cream
-       Compliments
-       The words ‘I Love You’ but only when you know they really mean it
-       Harry styles
-       Rom Coms
-       That shoot of electricity when you touch that one person, or when you brush up against them/ make contact with them
-       Good photos
-       Watching a movie over and over
-       Orlando bloom
-       Falling in love with a celebrity or character
-       The smell of library books
-       Pick up lines

Fashion Winter Essentials

Winter is fast approaching, which I'm excited about because it's my favorite season, so I think it's good to know what you need to have for winter! I've put together my winter essentials, here in Auckland, winter isn't that cold, we don't get snow or massive storms or anything so if you're wondering why I haven't gone overboard with snow gear, that's why!

1. Black coat - this might not be so essential in places like Auckland but never the less, they are handy, they are great for throwing over the top of a dress when going out, or even on top of jeans. They are clever in the way they can make an outfit look casual or highly sophisticated depending on what you pair it with. Good places to buy them from are: Country Road, Asos, Urban Outfitters or Glassons
2. Skinny jeans - skinny jeans are honestly and all year round essential, but definitely in winter. I own about 3 pairs of black skinny jeans, because they go with pretty much everything and keep you warm. Pair jeans with any top and jacket, coat, sweater with a pair of boots or chucks, great for winter! You can get them from almost anywhere but I usually buy mine from country road
3. Cardigan - cardigans are great, a black cardigan looks great over a pair of jeans, a skirt or even a dress, it's nice to wear in times like autumn or on those days where it's chilly but not freezing
4. Blazer - a black blazer is another all year round essential, but they do come in handy in winter! It can dress up a pair of jeans or any outfit, it's a nice change to a normal black zip up
5. Cozy jumper - everyone needs a cozy jumper in winter, or any time of the year, for those lazy days at home or just for when it's cold, they're also great for layering, with jeans, boots and a coat on top. Make sure you buy one that suits you and your figure
6. Black bag - essential all year round but i though i'd stick it in here
7. Warm socks - similar to a cozy jumper, everyone needs warm socks, knee socks also. Socks look great with boots in winter, socks and boots with a skirt and jumper are one of my favorite looks. And when worn right, knee socks can look fab
8. Simple long sleeve tees - this is a very essential winter essential, winter is all about layering and your long sleeve tees are your layering base. Good fitting top with a cardigan or jacket over the top will keep you warm but you won't over heat and if it's cold, throw on a coat
9. Black tights - opaque or wollen tights in winter are great, I always like wearing a pair of tights with a skirt or a dress, they also look great with a pair of tailored shorts! They keep your legs nice and warm and can really improve an outfit
10. Black boots - you need these all year round, especially in winter. Black boots, high or not go great with socks or tights and can really dress up an outfit, it's a nice change to black chucks as well!
11. Black skirt - another all year essential, but again great for winter, in winter wear a skirt with tights and pair it with your black boots!
12. Beanie - who doesn't want a beanie? I don't really have a reason for this one but I feel as though it's highly necessary and keeps your head warm and helps prevent colds!

I feel as though I repeated myself way too many times! But black tights and socks are very basic needs in winter.

Mekong Baby

My apologies as this is a rather late post, but for my birthday dinner on Sunday, yes last sunday we went to a restaurant in Ponsonby, Auckland called Mekong Baby. One of the best places i've ever been too. The interior is very modern and fresh, the photos didn't capture it as well as I'd hoped and the food is Vietnamese and is incredible. All the dishes are extremely quick and are presented exquisitely. You order many different items and share, I think from memory we ordered around 6 dishes.

 A delicious mock-tail
Chicken, pink grapefruit salad - so refreshing and yum

You can't really see, but there is this amazing meat under the coleslaw
 Coolest bathrooms
Nicest dessert ever - chocolate Mousse with hokey pokey and kaffir lime leaves

This isn't the cheapest restaurant, but it is very much worth it, a truly amazing Restaurant!

Here To Help

Recently, I have realized that through time I have developed a need. A need to be there for people, to be there for people to talk to. Not because I need drama in my life, not because I want to feel as though I’m part of something, not because I’m nosey, but because feeling as though you’re alone, that no one is there for you or to talk to you, is one of the worst feelings in the world and to think that someone is suffering really upsets me.

So please. If any of you, being that I know you or not, if you’re struggling with something, you’re feeling lost or you just need someone to chat with, feel free to email me about anything. If you want it to be kept confidential just put ‘confidential’ in the subject bar, I will speak of it to no one, I swear. Tell me anything; I will help you as best I can and don’t joke around with it, don’t be stupid. I created this email adress specifically for my blog

Birthday Wishes

Today, March 2nd is my Birthday! My 15th Birthday to be precise. Now 15 may seem a very insignificant number but as I discovered it's actually quite a terrifying number. The idea of this came from a conversation last week on camp and it really opened my eyes. What number is 15 half way to? 30, yes, now. 30 is the number (averagely) that you are expected to have found someone, to be thinking of marriage, finding a house, having a kid etc and that is very scary to a lot of us, 15 years isn't a very long time? So it has made me realize that one needs to cherish these moments and future moments and seize opportunities at every chance you get. Wear that dress you've been unsure of wearing, talk to that person you've been weary of, do that activity you've been back and forth about, kiss that boy/girl, tell people thank you, take a step back from those who aren't worth your precious time.

Thank you to everyone for the Birthday Wishes! I got some lovely things, I've decided to share them with you, this is not in any way so I can show off or brag, it's just because I want to show you and share my thanks and give people ideas for their friends/families birthdays!

 Breakfast waffles, berries and bacon!

Red current wrapping is so gorgeous

Country Road high waisted shorts and stretchy pants

Country Road jumper, top and cardigan

Country Road handbag (I'm in love) and socks

 Simple Country Road dress

Country Road chunky knit cardigan with zips and leather elbow patches

Pandora bracelet or necklace and two more beads, my pandora is full now!

Two books and a wallet/document holder from Red Current

Thankyou again, I am so grateful
