Goodbye Wheat

The other day my mum was telling me how her friend had stopped eating wheat and how she was looking so much better and really healthy. Both my mum and I have decided to try this because, cutting out wheat does actually have benefits for your health.
:
Allergy relief
Digestive help
Prevention of weight gain
Brain health
Blood health

And honestly it isn't that hard. Yes if you adore bread and pasta it may be hard, but you get used to it. Personally I was most worried about pizza, but, you can get gluten free bases so phew.

What you can eat:
Beans, seeds, nuts in their natural, unprocessed form
Fresh eggs
Fresh meats, fish and poultry (not breaded, batter-coated)
Fruits and vegetables
Most dairy products
Some dark chocolate
Gluten free cakes/slices (not too often)
Corn
Flax
Gluten free flowers (rice, soy, almond)
Quinoa
Rice
Soy

What to avoid UNLESS labeled with 'gluten free':
Barley
Rye
Wheat (obviously)
Non gluten free flour
Beer
Breads
Cakes and pies
Candies
Cereals
Cookies
Crackers
French fries
gravies
pasta
Processed meats
Salad dressings
Sauces, including soy sauce
Seasoned snack foods (potato chips)

I am definitely going to try this because no wheat can also improve your skin if you have acne so I'm willing to give it a shot and you generally feel a lot better when you're eating healthier.

Pom Poms

Who doesn't love pom poms? I didn't even realize you could make them so easily until I found a photo the other day on instagram. Making these is quite time consuming, but it does give you something to do and they are so simple. You can make them small or large and in any color you fancy! After you've made one, you could make more and make them into something bigger or just make single ones, cats love them.

Equipment:
Cardboard
Scissors
Yarn

Instructions:
                                1. Trace circles into cardboard and one in the centre and cut out
2. Cut a very long piece of yarn and wrap around like shown in picture, wrap so it goes around the back and through the centre and repeat this, it should look like the third picture

3. Wrap the yarn around at least twice more and tuck the end under a strand
4. Cut the yarn and re-separate the two pieces of cardboard, snipping the yarn as you go right the way around so it looks like the third picture

If you run out of yarn whilst making the pom pom, simply, cut another strand and knot it on, then continue

The end result:

Don't worry if it doesn't turn out very well the first time!

New Years Resolutions

I know this post is a bit late, but anyhow. Happy New Year! I honestly must say I am rather glad that it is 2014, 2013 wasn't one of my best years, I must say. But, I learnt a lot, a lot, I made some great friends and figured out who the not so great ones were, I did very well in dance including winning cups inside and out side of school, I made this blog, I started writing, I found new cafes, Shopped, found my style, there are too many things to name, but I am glad it's a new year to start fresh. New Years resolutions are something that I haven't done before, but I think it's good to write down your goals and what you hope to get out of the year. I have a journal which I write in all the time, and I did a page for 2014 and wrote down my resolutions, after writing them down I feel even more eager to accomplish them. I'm going to list my resolutions down, these are mine, don't laugh or doubt them because these are small things I have come up with to make this year a good one

(not in any order)

1. Be healthy
2. Workout (run, swim, bike, yoga)
3. Study hard
4. Be independent
5. No drinking, even if your friends do
6. Meet new people
7. Be nice to everyone
8. Bake more
9. Get a job
10. Save money
11. Stay positive
12. Don't stress
13. Be creative
14. Travel
15. Read lots of books
16. Prioritize
17. Just do it
18. Improve makeup skills
19. Sew
20. Be as fabulous as ever

This is the page in my journal,

A Splash Of Color

If you've been reading my blog, you may be aware that I love fashion and my style is very simple, but I think that little bit of extra color can spice up an outfit so much. I'm not one to overload on jewelry or lots of color but a colored bag, belt, scarf, pair of shoes, earrings or other item of jewelry can just add something to an outfit.

These are just some examples

I believe that the slightest splash of color to the simplest outfit can spice it up so much, just experiment

Sophias Super Simple Quesadillas

I love mexican food, it's probably my favorite type of food. Quesadillas are so delicious and can be so simple, the recipe i'm writing is just something I improvised, it uses very few ingredients and doesn't take long at all! Perfect for lunch or dinner, it's also not too bad in the health department, especially if you serve it with some guacamole and salad.

Ingredients:
You need chilli beans, the Watties ones are great, 1 can makes enough
for 2 quesadillas, use 2 cans for 4
I add cumin, just a dash, it's not compulsory but it gives it a really nice
flavor
You need cheese in a quesadilla, it's what keeps the tortillas
together and it makes it taste amazing, I use this one because
it's always in the fridge and extremely yum
You can use tortillas or wraps, I usually use these just because
we always have them and they're healthy, these are small wraps but big
ones are great too

Method:
1. Pour beans into bowl and mash, you sort of know when it's enough,
it will feel strange but then you get a fork and stir/mash it so it loosens add cumin and stir in, should look sort of like this:
2. Spread/place beans on 1 tortilla and try get the beans to cover the whole tortilla
3. Sprinkle cheese over, especially at the edges, should look like this:
4. Then place the other tortilla on top and press it down, then place it in a hot pan which has been sprayed with oil
5. Heat tortilla until it's browned/crispy on both sides, so you flip it, it takes a little bit of practice
it should look like this:

Then just serve it with salad, sour cream, salsa, guacamole, whatever you like and enjoy!

Respect Yourself

I believe that self respect is highly important. How will others respect you if you don't respect yourself? Self respect is appreciating yourself, it is taking care of yourself and making choices which are the best for you.

Take a look in the mirror, the first things we notice when we look in the mirror are usually the bad things, look in the mirror and admire the good things, even if they're small, start to appreciate your physical attributes, if you see yourself as attractive, others may begin to.

Realize that your attitude and your personality are different. Your personality is who your are, your attitude depends on who they are, if they are telling you to change, change your attitude, never change your personality. Don't continuously dwell over all the mistakes you've made which in your opinion have made you a person who shouldn't be respected, if you think those are what make you who you are think again, look back on all the good things you've done and your good personality traits.

Take care of yourself, this is just basic self respect. Eat well, drink, laugh, read, learn, sleep, present yourself nicely. You need to start looking after yourself if you don't already, care for yourself, don't treat yourself like shit you are worth more than that.

We all have people in our lives who makes us feel like shit. Some of these people are people that we love, however, they don't respect us. I know most of you will have friends which you would do anything for, you are there 100% for them but as soon as you need them, they're not there. This is just disrespectful of them. They should respect your dedication to them and respect all you've done, don't let people take you for granted. Yes I know you love that boy and yes he knows that, but he also knows that you'll do whatever he says, he knows he has control over you, so let him go, people like that aren't worth it.

Respect yourself. Be proud of who you are and what you've done. Surround yourself with people who appreciate you.

Because you are worth everything and more, anyone who can't see that is blind or stupid
